夏の光 | 雑司が谷旧宣教師館 | Summer Light | Zoshigaya Old Missionary House

こんにちは。

８月に入り、都内にある雑司が谷旧宣教師館に建築見学に行ってきました。

雑司が谷旧宣教師館は、明治４０（１９０７）年にアメリカ人宣教師のジョン・ムーディ・マッケーレブ（John Moody McCaleb）が、自らの居宅として建てたもので、豊島区内に現存する最も古い近代木造洋風建築です。また、東京都内でも数少ない明治期の宣教師館として、大変貴重な建物です。

今回は、館内で気になった場所を撮影しています。

朝の開館時間に合わせて訪れたのですが、すでに別の見学者が来ていて、その後も次々と見学者が訪れていました。

特に若い男性のグループも来ていて、ちょうど夏休みということもあり、学校の課題などで訪れているのかもしれないなと思いました。

まずは、入り口を入ってすぐのところにある、２階へ続く階段と照明から。

In August, I visited the Zoshigaya Old Missionary House in Tokyo to see its architecture.

The Zoshigaya Old Missionary House was built in 1907 by John Moody McCaleb, an American missionary, as his private residence. It is the oldest surviving modern wooden Western-style building in Toshima Ward and is also a valuable example of one of the few remaining missionary houses from the Meiji period in Tokyo.

This time, I photographed some of the details and spaces that caught my attention inside the house.

I arrived when the building opened in the morning, but there were already other visitors there, and more visitors continued to arrive afterward.

There was also a group of young men, and since it was during the summer vacation, I wondered if they might have been visiting for a school assignment or something similar.

First, the staircase leading to the second floor and the light fixture just inside the entrance.

食堂として使われていた部屋は、当時の暮らしを感じさせる空間になっていました。

ここにも素敵な照明がありました。

The room that was once used as a dining room had an atmosphere that evoked the way people lived at the time.

There was another beautiful light fixture here as well.

鏡を覗くと、居間の窓が映っています。

Looking into the mirror, I can see the window of the living room reflected in it.

２階の廊下です。外からの日差しが差し込む開放的な空間で、庭の緑もよく見えます。

This is the hallway on the second floor. It is an open space with sunlight streaming in from outside, and the greenery in the garden can be seen clearly.

小さな部屋がありました。現在は情報コーナーとして使用されているみたいです。

風でカーテンが少し揺れていました。

窓から差し込む夏の光が、カーテン越しにふんわりと室内に広がっていました。

There was a small room, which seems to be currently used as an information corner.

The curtains were gently swaying in the breeze.

Summer sunlight streamed in through the window, softly spreading throughout the room through the curtains.

書斎に行くと、窓から差し込む明るい日差しが印象的だったので、撮影してみました。

When I entered the study, the bright sunlight coming through the window caught my attention, so I took a photo.

１階に戻り、廊下に出ると、窓から差し込む光が床を照らしていました。

When I returned to the first floor and stepped into the hallway, sunlight was streaming through the window and illuminating the floor.

内部の見学を終えて、庭を回ってみました。

外観は白と緑の爽やかな建物です。

先ほど２階の廊下で撮影した場所の照明も見えます。

After finishing the tour of the interior, I walked around the garden.

The exterior is a refreshing white-and-green building.

I could also see the light fixture from the area I photographed earlier in the second-floor hallway.

庭には、ちょうど水をたっぷり浴びた後のペンタスを見つけました。

In the garden, I found some pentas that had just been thoroughly watered.

今回は、夏の光がたくさん入ってくる場所が気になりました。

季節は茹だるような暑さですが、夏の光は一年の中でも特に明るく、元気をもらえます。

This time, I found myself drawn to the places where plenty of summer light came in.

Although the season brings sweltering heat, summer light is especially bright compared with other times of the year, and it gives me a sense of energy.
