荻外荘（近衛文麿旧宅）｜荻窪会談が行われた客間 | Tekigaiso | The Guest Room Where the Ogikubo Conference Took Place

前回の食堂に引き続き、今回は客間の様子を紹介していこうと思います。

この部屋は、第二次近衛内閣が組閣された昭和１５（１９４０）年７月１９日に、「荻窪会談」が行われた場所です。

まずは、客間の照明を撮影してみました。

Following the dining room featured in the previous post, this time I’d like to introduce the guest room.

This room is where the “Ogikubo Conference” was held on July 19, 1940, when the Second Konoe Cabinet was formed.

First, I photographed the lighting fixture in the guest room.

This chair features a distinctive design reminiscent of a spiral.

奥にも、シンプルなデザインの椅子が並んでいました。

At the back of the room, there were also several simple chairs.

テーブルクロスには、しなやかな葉のデザインが施されています。

The tablecloth features an elegant leaf pattern with graceful curves.

こちらの部屋の壁は、上部が動物、下部が植物の模様になっています。

The walls of this room feature animal motifs on the upper section and plant motifs on the lower section.

食堂とはまた違った雰囲気が漂う客間です。

終戦の５年前、この場所で実際に重要な会談が行われていたとは、なかなか信じられませんでした。自分がその場所に立っていると思うと、不思議な気持ちになります。

意匠も凝っていて見応えがあります。気になる方はぜひ足を運び、部屋全体の雰囲気を自分の目で確かめてみてください。

The guest room has a very different atmosphere from the dining room.

It was hard to believe that such an important meeting actually took place here five years before the end of World War II. Standing in the very place where it happened gave me a strange feeling.

The room is also full of beautifully crafted details. If you’re interested, I hope you’ll visit and see the room for yourself.
