Walking Through Zoshigaya in Summer
Hello.
In my last post, I wrote about the Zoshigaya Old Missionary House. This post is a continuation of that visit.
I’ll leave the link to the previous post here, so feel free to take a look.
After finishing my visit to the building, I stepped back onto the street and found a beautiful white crape myrtle in bloom.
We also have a pink crape myrtle in our garden at home, but the white one has a fresh, refreshing feel to it. It gives a completely different impression.

As I walked past the crape myrtle and continued straight ahead, I came across an old house surrounded by stone walls. No one lives there now, and the garden was filled with lush greenery.
There was also a sign indicating that the trees on the property are protected.
The summer sunlight was pouring down onto the street.

I took some photos of the house’s walls, the bright sunlight, and the lush greenery on the property.

On my way back to the nearest Zoshigaya Station, I stopped by the cemetery where Natsume Soseki’s grave is located.

Looking as far as the eye can see, there are graves everywhere, giving the cemetery a somewhat lonely atmosphere in summer. Perhaps the autumn colors will be beautiful when fall arrives.
Zoshigaya Cemetery has roads wide enough for cars and bicycles, and during the day, I saw people cycling to work and walking through the cemetery.
It feels somewhat strange to have an everyday route running through a cemetery. Although, I imagine it might be quite scary at night.
Next time, I would like to visit when I can enjoy the autumn foliage.
See you in the next post.
