大磯に残る旧島崎藤村邸 | Shimazaki Toson’s Former Residence in Oiso

前回の大磯巡りでは、島崎藤村 が晩年を過ごした旧宅を訪れました。

少し離れた場所に史跡があるということで、民家が並ぶ通りを歩いて向かいました。

すると、文豪・島崎藤村（１８７２〜１９４３）が晩年の約２年間を過ごした旧宅が現れました。

こちらは外から見学する形になっていたため、気になった場所を撮影しました。

中は畳敷きになっていて、襖で間仕切られた部屋がいくつかあるようでした。

小さい頃は、襖のある家に住んでいた時期もありましたが、今ではこうした空間を見る機会も少なくなったように感じます。

During my previous visit to Oiso, I stopped by the former residence where Shimazaki Toson spent his later years.

I heard there was a historic site a little farther away, so I walked through a street lined with houses to get there.

Before long, the former home where the literary figure Shimazaki Toson (1872–1943) spent about the last two years of his life came into view.

The residence could only be viewed from outside, so I photographed the places that caught my attention.

Inside, the rooms appeared to have tatami flooring, with several spaces divided by sliding fusuma doors.

When I was young, I also lived in a house with fusuma doors for a time, but nowadays it feels like opportunities to see these kinds of spaces have become much rarer.

Spiderwort and dokudami flowers were arranged in a vase.

Within the quiet atmosphere, I could feel a sense of traditional Japanese charm.

外からのみの見学でしたが、島崎藤村についてや、晩年の約２年間を過ごした場所ということで、当時の空気を少し感じられるような場所でした。

今回は気になった場所しか撮影しませんでしたが、全容が知りたい方は、実際に足を運んで見ることをおすすめします。

次回は、引き続き大磯の史跡を巡っていきます。

Although the residence could only be viewed from outside, knowing that Shimazaki Toson spent about the last two years of his life there made it feel like a place where traces of that era still remained.

This time, I only photographed the spots that caught my attention, but if you would like to see the residence in full, I would recommend visiting it in person.

Next time, I will continue exploring the historic sites of Oiso.
