鎌倉宮で出会った獅子頭守り｜Shishigashira Amulet at Kamakura-gū

今回は、鎌倉にある鎌倉宮を訪れました。
【由緒｜大塔宮鎌倉宮】
鎌倉宮にお祀りされているのは、護良親王（大塔宮）です。
親王は、幼い頃から聡明で勇ましいお方であったと伝えられています。
比叡山延暦寺で天台座主を務められた後、父である後醍醐天皇の理想を胸に、自ら行動し、鎌倉幕府を倒すために尽力されました。その功績により、征夷大将軍や兵部卿といった重い役目を担うことになります。
しかしその後、足利尊氏の策略によって鎌倉二階堂に幽閉され、建武２年（１３３５年）旧暦７月２３日、２８歳という若さでその生涯を終えられました。
時代が下り明治になると、明治天皇が親王を深く偲ばれ、明治２年（１８６９年）に社殿が建てられ、「鎌倉宮」と名付けられました。
明治６年（１８７３年）には天皇の行幸を仰ぎ、官幣中社として位置づけられています。

This time, I visited Kamakura-gū in Kamakura.
【History | Daito-no-Miya Kamakura-gū】
At Kamakura-gū, the enshrined deity is Prince Morinaga (Daito-no-Miya).
It is said that from a young age, the prince was both intelligent and courageous.
After serving as the Tendai Zasu at Mount Hiei’s Enryaku-ji Temple (Hieizan Enryaku-ji), he devoted himself to the ideals of his father, Emperor Go-Daigo, and worked to overthrow the Kamakura shogunate. Thanks to his achievements, he was entrusted with important positions such as Seii Taishōgun and Hyōbu-kyō.
However, he was later imprisoned at Kamakura Nikaidō due to the schemes of Ashikaga Takauji, and passed away at the young age of 28 on the 23rd day of the 7th month, Kenmu 2 (1335, lunar calendar).
In the Meiji era, Emperor Meiji deeply honored Prince Morinaga. In Meiji 2 (1869), a shrine building was constructed, and it was named Kamakura-gū.
In Meiji 6 (1873), Emperor Meiji visited the shrine, which was then designated as a Kanpei Chūsha.
鳥居をくぐると、まず広い空間が広がっていました。
Passing through the torii gate, a wide open space unfolded before me.
手水舎には、鎌倉宮を代表するお守りの獅子頭守りが、たくさん吊るされていました。
御祭神である護良親王が、戦の際に兜の中に入れていたと伝えられる、由緒あるお守りです。
At the temizuya, many Shishigashira amulets—the signature charms of Kamakura-gū—were hanging.
These are historic amulets said to have been carried inside the helmet of Prince Morinaga, the enshrined deity, during battles.
風で揺れています。
They were gently swaying as the breeze passed by.
ここにも、たくさんの獅子頭守りが並んでいました。
Many Shishigashira amulets could be seen here as well.
拝殿で参拝しました。
At the haiden, I pay my respects.
拝殿の奥には、舞殿が続いていました。

気持ちの良い場所に、メジロの姿がありました。
In this pleasant spot, a Japanese white-eye could be seen.
鎌倉宮を出ると、すぐ目の前にショップがありました。
テーブルの上には、瓶にいけられた水仙が置かれていました。
Upon leaving Kamakura-gū, a shop was right in front of me.
On the table, a vase held daffodils.
今回は、穏やかな空気や空間を感じられる場所を訪れました。
鎌倉には何度か足を運んでいますが、こちらは初めてで、実際に訪れてよかったと感じています。
獅子頭守りも、もうすぐ訪れる春を思わせるように風に揺れ、穏やかな時間が流れていました。
鎌倉を訪れる際に、また立ち寄ってみたい場所のひとつです。

This time, I visited a place where I could feel a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
I have been to Kamakura several times before, but this was my first visit here, and I’m glad I came.
The Shishigashira amulets swayed in the breeze, hinting at the approaching spring, as a gentle, tranquil time flowed around them.
It’s one of the places I’d like to visit again when I come to Kamakura.
