和傘の下で咲く牡丹｜鶴岡八幡宮 神苑ぼたん庭園 | Peony Garden at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu

こんにちは。

先日、鶴岡八幡宮 を訪れました。

参拝を済ませた後、何気なく境内を散策していると、神苑ぼたん庭園の前に多くの人が集まっていました。
近づいてみると、ちょうど見頃を迎えた牡丹が咲いているようだったので、庭園に入ってみることにしました。

道なりに歩いていくと、ところどころに牡丹が飾られていました。

しばらく進むと、小さな屋根のある入口のような場所があり、そこをくぐると、和傘の下で大輪の花を咲かせた牡丹が並んでいました。

最初はどのように撮影すれば良いのかわからなかったのですが、撮影を重ねながら、自分なりにイメージを掴むようにして写真を撮ってみました。

牡丹にはさまざまな品種があるようなので、その違いも含めて少しずつ紹介していこうと思います。

今回は、少し離れた距離から、牡丹の全体像や和傘とともに撮影を試みてみました。

こちらの「天衣」は、薄桃色から乳白色へ変化する千重咲きの品種です。

The other day, I visited Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.

After finishing my visit to the shrine, I was casually walking around the grounds when I noticed many people gathered in front of the Sacred Peony Garden.
As I got closer, it seemed the peonies were in full bloom, so I decided to enter the garden.

Walking along the path, I found peonies displayed here and there throughout the garden.

After walking a little further, I came across a small entrance with a roof-like structure. Passing through it, I found large peonies blooming beneath Japanese umbrellas.

At first, I wasn’t sure how I wanted to photograph them, but as I continued taking pictures, I gradually began to find my own way of capturing the scene.

There seem to be many different varieties of peonies, so I would like to introduce them little by little along with the photographs.

This time, I tried photographing the overall scenery of the peonies together with the Japanese umbrellas from a slight distance.


Beneath the Japanese umbrellas, white peonies were blooming in the shade.
This variety, called “Teni,” is a large double-flowered peony that changes color from pale pink to milky white.

見た目は一般的な牡丹の印象とは少し異なりますが、こちらはアメリカで作出された「ハイヌーン」という、黄色い花を咲かせる牡丹の品種です。

薄いピンク色の牡丹「平成桜」は、島根県松江市の大根島で作出された品種です。

The pale pink peony “Heisei Sakura” is a variety developed on Daikonshima Island in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture.

しばらく歩いていると、緑の中に光が差し込んでいる場所があったので、写真に収めました。

As I continued walking, I came across a place where light was shining through the greenery, so I captured it in a photograph.

この写真は、和傘や牡丹、その場の空気感や光を意識しながら撮影してみました。

In this photograph, I tried to capture the Japanese umbrellas, the peonies, and the atmosphere and light of the space.

奥の方まで和傘が連なっている風景から、和の雰囲気を感じました。

The rows of Japanese umbrellas continuing into the distance gave the scene a distinctly Japanese atmosphere.

牡丹の全体像を撮影するのは、どう捉えれば良いのか難しいところがありました。

それでも、和傘に日が当たり、その下で咲く牡丹の様子には、落ち着いた美しさがありました。

次は、牡丹により近づいた写真をご紹介していこうと思います。

Photographing the overall appearance of the peonies was difficult, as I wasn’t quite sure how I wanted to capture them.

Even so, there was a calm beauty in the way the sunlight fell on the Japanese umbrellas, with the peonies blooming beneath them.

Next, I would like to share photographs taken from a closer perspective of the peonies.
