浦賀ドック前の秋の薔薇 | Autumn Roses in Front of Uraga Dock

１０月の下旬、今にも雨が降りそうな曇り空の日に、浦賀ドック前まで足を運んでみました。

この時期になると、浦賀ドックの周囲にあるレンガ塀の前に、薔薇が咲きます。その花を見にやって来ました。

今年は訪れるのが一週間ほど遅く、花びらが枯れ始めていました。

撮影を始めると、ほどなくして雨がしとしと降ってきました。

バラの花びらにも、雨の雫がついていきます。レンガ塀と葉を背景に浮かび上がる、枯れ始めたその姿を捉えました。

In late October, I visited the area in front of Uraga Dock, the historic dry dock, on an overcast day when it looked as though it might rain at any moment.

At this time of year, roses bloom in front of the brick walls around Uraga Dock. I had come to see them.

This year, I arrived about a week too late, and the petals had begun to fade.

Soon after I started taking photographs, a gentle rain began to fall.

Raindrops gradually gathered on the rose petals. I captured the rose as it began to fade, standing out against the brick wall and leaves.

角度を変えて、花びらに近づいて撮影してみました。
花びらの柔らかさや、薔薇の可憐さがより伝わってきます。

I changed the angle and moved closer to photograph the petals.
The softness of the petals and the delicate charm of the rose come through more clearly.

もっと早く来ていれば、見頃の薔薇を撮影できたと思いますが、今年はその時期を逃してしまいました。

けれど、花は少しずつ枯れていくもの。捉え方を変えれば、少し遅れて訪れたからこそ、今回の薔薇の姿に出会えたのだと思います。

次はカラッと晴れた日に足を運び、見頃の薔薇にも出会いたいと思います。

If I had visited earlier, I think I could have photographed the roses at their peak, but I missed that time this year.

Still, flowers gradually fade. When I look at it that way, I think visiting a little late gave me the chance to discover this rose in its present form.

Next time, I hope to visit on a bright, clear day and see the roses at their peak, too.
