東京最古のカトリック築地教会 | One of Tokyo’s Oldest Catholic Churches

東京建築祭、最後の目的地はカトリック築地教会です。

築地一帯は明治初期に外国人居留地として整備されました。築地教会は明治７年（１８７４）にパリ外国宣教会によって設立された、東京でも最も古い教会の一つです。

現地に到着すると、すでに何人かの方が見学されていましたが、前回訪れた建築物ほどの混雑ではなく、内部を見学することができました。

中に入ると、両側には窓が並び、その間にはキリスト教にまつわる絵が飾られていました。

The final destination of the Tokyo Architectural Festival was Tsukiji Catholic Church.

The Tsukiji area was developed as a foreign settlement in the early Meiji period. Tsukiji Church was established in 1874 by the Paris Foreign Missions Society and is one of the oldest churches in Tokyo.

When I arrived, several people were already visiting the church, but unlike the previous buildings I had visited, it was not very crowded, so I was able to explore the interior.

Upon entering, I found windows lined along both sides, with paintings related to Christianity displayed between them.

The church’s quiet and calming atmosphere was very comforting.

祭壇の方を撮影しました。厳かな雰囲気が感じられます。

I photographed the altar area. A solemn atmosphere can be felt here.

入り口付近には、緑の花瓶に生けられた花が飾られていました。
花が添えられているだけで、温かく迎えられているような気分になりますね。

Near the entrance, flowers were arranged in a green vase.
Their presence alone makes you feel warmly welcomed.

全体の広さでいえば決して大きな教会ではありませんが、地域の人々に大切にされている場所であることを、実際に訪れて感じました。

こちらは東京建築祭に限らず、普段から内部を見学できるようです。

気になった方は、少し足を休めるような感覚で、ゆっくり見学してみるのもおすすめです。

Although it is not a particularly large church, visiting it made me feel that it is a place deeply cherished by the local community.

The interior seems to be open to visitors not only during the Tokyo Architectural Festival, but also throughout the year.
